About Giner Facilities

Giner, Inc. currently occupies 30,000-square feet of well-equipped electrochemical research laboratories and office space in Newton, MA. Giner maintains a library with a large collection of up-to-date literature in chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, and biomedical research, and we have access to comprehensive science, engineering, and medical literature and consultants in Boston-area universities.

Engineering and Analytical Services

Giner, Inc. has a machine shop and an electronics shop for the fabrication of special experimental components. We have developed a select network of specialized machine shops in Greater Boston, which supplements the in-house facilities in the fabrication of specialized components and devices. Moreover, Giner, Inc. has established working relationships with a number of specialized testing labs giving access as-needed to chemical and materials testing techniques such as Atomic Absorption, Emission Spectroscopy, XRD, TEM, SEM, ESCA, LEED, Auger, etc.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Giner, Inc. has deployed our high-pressure electrolyzer technology and sold devices to several commercial and military customers. Giner, Inc. is manufacturing electrolyzer components and stacks for leading industrial suppliers of laboratory hydrogen generators. Pilot production units of our large scale commercial electrolyzers are currently undergoing field trials at various sites and are ready for volume production.

Giner, Inc. in partnership with Treadwell Corporation won the competition to build high-pressure (20.6 MPa or 3000 psig) PEM electrolytic oxygen generators for life support in the Seawolf class of U.S. Navy submarines. Giner, Inc. manufactured all of the stack components (>20,000 components) for six, 100-cell OGP electrolyzer stacks. Recently, Giner has again teamed with Treadwell to provide electrolyzer systems for the Trident class of US submarines replacing alkaline technology aboard those vessels. Giner, Inc. has been contracted to fabricate and assemble up to 28 LPE differential pressure electrolyzer stacks. This contract consists of fabricating all of the cell components such as catalysts, membrane-electrode assemblies, screen assemblies, separators, pressure pads, frames and gaskets. All of these cell components are inspected and packaged as subassemblies, and then assembled within our patented compression hardware also manufactured by Giner, Inc. Our customer installs these stacks within their LPE systems which have been engineered for retrofit installation aboard both the Seawolf and Trident class submarines.

Giner has also begun volume manufacturing of our electrochemical alcohol sensor technology. These sensors are for use in criminal justice applications, particularly probation, parole, and the control of convicted intoxicated drivers. Giner, Inc. and our customer are experiencing strong demand growth for this unique product.

Major Equipment On Site

Giner, Inc. employs a wide range of specialized apparatus, including electrochemical equipment: potentiostats and computerized data acquisition systems; analytical equipment such as a UV/VIS spectrophotometer, gas chromatographs, gas chromatographs/mass spectrometers, BET surface area analyzer, and a variety of membrane, electrode and cell processing equipment and facilities (ovens, presses, clean rooms, plating, assembly, membrane and diffusion media coating equipment and testing).
