Giner in Chemical and Engineering News Magazine Cover Story
"Analytics For Fuel Cells," part of the March 30, 2009 Chemical and Engineering News (C&EN) Pittcon 2009 cover story, features a photograph of Giner Electrochemical Systems, LLC's Cortney Mittelsteadt and William Braff (right). The article discusses specialized instruments designed and built by Giner for measuring fuel cell membrane properties. In the article, Mittelsteadt says "... water uptake is the most important PEM property because it affects all other membrane properties. For instance, for the membrane to be an efficient ion conductor, it must hold enough water to dissociate and solvate the protons and transport them through the membrane. Similarly, the PEM's water content affects its durability, gas permeability, and mechanical properties."
