Trace Dissolved Species

Electrochemical Liquid Sensors

Giner utilizes thick- and thin-film technologies in combination with appropriate electrode materials, and careful control of electrode potentials, to fabricate prototype chemical-specific liquid sensors. We have developed liquid sensors for several inorganic analytes, including dissolved nitrates (NO3--), carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and ozone (O3).Trace dissolved metal sensors include cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), arsenic (As) and chromium (Cr.) One sensor has been prototyped for the organic material glucose, a simple sugar otherwise known as corn sugar or blood sugar. The miniature sensors afford extraordinary portability and utility while providing detection limits in the ppm and ppb levels, depending on the specific dissolved material being sensed.
